Can I just tell you how excited I am about my NEW “My Little Pets Unit”? I am SO EXCITED! I love the variety of quality and education items packed into this 61 page themed unit. What do you think of my illustrations on the front cover page? I am trying more and more to use my own artwork in my educational items. Even though it ends up being much more work, it is so rewarding at the same time.
I have been working on this unit for a while because I wanted it to be just perfect. This unit has a variety of learning activities that cover: literacy, math, art, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, dramatic play, etc. I was able to use the learning activities in my preschool class, as well as with my two little ones at home who are 4 & 7 years old. They all loved doing the different activities and crafts that come with this unit. This is a list of the amazing items included in this unit. Click on the picture for a larger view.
Below you can see samples of the learning materials included. “What kind of Pet do you have?” Graph, “Hey Diddle, Diddle Nursery Rhyme Poster”, “Pet Themed Name Plates”, and a fun larger motor “Move Like Your Favorite Pet” game.
“Pet Needs Poster”, “Pet Needs Mini Book”, “Smallest to Largest Sizing Activity”, and a “9 Piece Dog Puzzle”
“Dd for Dog Coloring Page (original illustration), “My Little Pet Handwriting Practice”, “A Pet Song”, and “If I could have a pet, I would want a…” story and art prompt
“My Little Pet Cat Headband” (original illustration and such a fun art project), “Recommend Pet Themed Literature”, a fun “Bird Snack Time” idea, and links to download a FREE “Pet Facts Mini Book” to go along with your pet themed unit
Everything you need to set up your own “Dramatic Play Pet Store”. So cute! This was my students all time favorite activity. We played it together as a class, they played it on their own during center time, they couldn’t get enough. Included in this unit are pictures of how I set up our Class Pet Store.
My Little Pet Pictures, sets A-C. These pet pictures can be used to make puppets, flannel board pieces, to be used with activities included in this unit such as: the Pet Store, and the Pet Home Sort, etc. The sky is the limit!
“Pet Homes Sort” was another one of my kids favorite activities. Not only did I use the “Pet Pictures” above for them to sort, but I also used Beanie Babies borrowed from my sister, Little People Pets, small plastic pets, other small pet stuffed animals, etc. The kids absolutely LOVED sorting out the variety of pet items. Great sensory activity. More of my original illustrations included in this activity. Do you know which drawings are mine?
How cute is this “My Little Pet Memory Game”? So fun! For little ones you could also have them match the correct pairs with each other. Placing the bird card on the ground or holding it up you could say, “Can you find the matching bird card that looks like this blue bird with an orange beak?” It is great way to use descriptive words and review colors.
I love this “My Little Pet Patterning” game. O.K., so as you can see by now I love everything in this unit, but I really do. I was able to use some really fun Vintage Pet Graphics that I purchased to create this game.
I am HUGE on using realistic pictures when I teach. Don’t get me wrong, I love cute illustrations, but I also like for kids to see the “real stuff” as well. Thanks to my sister’s suggestion, I made these great “Pet Animal Fact Posters” to help teach about pets. I had so much fun researching the fun facts included on these Pet Posters (along with the help of my oldest daughter). Then I had the fun job of finding the “just perfect” pictures to go on each poster. The posters print out on a standard sized 8 1/2 x 11 sized paper.
Don’t forget to
