Adorable ‘I Love Lucy’ Little People Collector Review
“Lucy, I’m home!” How many of you hear that phrase and immediately think of the timeless classic television show, I Love Lucy, starring the vivacious Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance, and William Frawley. I know I do! My mom loved the show “I Love Lucy,” so I grew up watching it. As an adult, I continued to enjoy reruns of “I Love Lucy”.
Today, I have the privilege of reviewing the adorable “I Love Lucy” Little People Collector set that Mattel graciously sent me. This set features the iconic characters Lucy Ricardo and Ethel Mertz, and I was incredibly excited when the package showed up on my doorstep.
First of all, Little People have always been a favorite toy in my household. From my oldest daughter receiving a Little People Barn for her 2nd Christmas, to my youngest daughter never being able to get enough of the Little People Disney Princess sets.
Secondly, the particular episode that inspired this “I Love Lucy” Little People Collector set is one of my all-time favorites: Season 2, Episode 1 – “Job Switching.” In this episode, Lucy and Ethel’s husbands, Ricky and Fred, are upset with the girls’ spending habits. Consequently, Lucy and Ethel decide to work in a candy factory while the boys take on the housework. At one point, Lucy and Ethel find themselves in the “wrapping” department, where the conveyor belt speeds up, and they can’t keep up. They are forced to stuff the extra candy in their mouths, hats, and shirts. This episode is literally laugh-out-loud funny! If you have never watched it, go watch it right this second!
The details in this collector’s set are incredible; from the main characters designs to the packaging artwork. Both Lucy and Ethel have that same feeling of sturdiness and quality that we all know Little People to be known for. I think that this set is both fabulous for young children and adult collectors. Why not introduce a new generation to “I Love Lucy” or children can simply role play with this set working in a chocolate factory, being pastry chefs, working at a restaurant, dressing up for Halloween, etc. The possibilities are endless! As far as adults, whether you collect Little People, you have a love for toys, or “I Love Lucy”, this is the set for you!
