Last week we had so much fun with our Pumpkin Theme. We did a TON of activities, so I am just going to highlight a few of our favorites. This is our new Alphabet Book page “P is for Pumpkin”. Click on the “Alphabet Book” link on my sidebar to see more of our Alphabet Book pages.

I had “Little Red” draw a large pumpkin. She then drew the details of the face. After that, she used chalk pastels to color the pumpkin in. I love exposing my daughters to a variety of art mediums. She then added a “P” to the corner and then used some chipboard stickers that I picked up at the Target Dollar Spot last year. Anyone else love Target’s Dollar Spot?

We sang the song “5 Little Pumpkins Sitting on a Gate”, read the book “5 Little Pumpkins” and then made the art project. “Little Red” water colored the back ground, glued on Popsicle sticks for the gate, stamped wind and pumpkins onto the paper, added a witch sticker in the corner, and some die cut leaves to the bottom of the page. “Little Red” wanted the leaves to look like they were blowing around. We read the book, 16 Runaway Pumpkins, together and “Little Red” used the pumpkin manipulatives I made to go along with telling the story. It was so much fun. I hand drew the pumpkins, colored them with oil pastels, and then laminated them. I made pumpkins just like the ones pictured, but twice the size and they are currently for sale in my Learn and Grow Designs Stores. CLICK HERE to see the blog post that contains more information.

We talked about the Pumpkin Life Cycle. We read the book “It’s Pumpkin Time!” by Zoe Hall, and used felt pieces to discuss the Pumpkin Life Cycle.

My girls had a BLAST playing with this “Make Your Own Jack-O’-Lantern” Felt Set I made. I have two more felt sets left that are on sale for only $4.80. CLICK HERE for more details.

My girls decided that they wanted to make their own felt sets and this is what they came up with. Amazing! They drew and cut out their felt sets all by themselves. I love how cute and fun they turned out. They both thought this was one of the most fun art activities we have done. Who would have known?

Can you tell how much we love felt in our family?

My preschooler played this math game. It is a game I got in a preschool kit I had ordered about 3 years ago from The Learning Box Preschool. It is amazing it has lasted through several of my preschool classes.

Of course we HAD to make pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats. We made three different kinds. I love how the Jack-O’-Lantern treats turned out using candy corns.

I have seen a lot of these Rice Krispie Treats around the web, and I wanted to make my just a little bit different. They were fun to make and even more delicious to eat.

Here are a few tips to make your own.

My little one had a playdate, and of course we had to do a pumpkin craft. I just made this one up as we went a long. The teeth are made from beans.

We went to a fun local “Witch Festival” and saw lots of pumpkins. Don’t you just love the pumpkin made out of two stumps of wood and painted? I have to make one of those sometime. These wooden pumpkins were big enough to sit on. The picture doesn’t do it justice.

We finished our week by visiting a local “Pumpkin Patch” and going for a hay ride. I can’t tell you how much fun it is for the whole family to pick out your perfect pumpkin. Isn’t this picture cute of my hubby and “Little Red”? She couldn’t contain her excitement.

Here is our pumpkin loot! I can’t wait to show you what we are going to do with these pumpkins. You will have to wait.
Of course if you are a frequent reader of “My Shae Noel” you know how much we LOVE reading books. Here are a few (yes, we read even more) of our favorite pumpkin themed books we read last week. We also went to the local story time and the library last week and the theme just happened to be on pumpkins. Too cool!

Have a great week.

  1. Thanks so much for sharing the link to my Five Pumpkins craft. I have been so behind on all my blog reading lately and am bummed I've missed so much on your blog. I adore all your activities! I am pinning this post to make sure to do all of these activities next year. And I can't believe how great your daughters' felt sets turned out. They are so talented!

PS-I didn't know you lived in the same area as me. We LOVE Gardner Village! Maybe some day we'll have to meet in real life for a playdate. 🙂

  2. Wow, I really love all your pumpkin activities. Here in South Africa we don't celebrate Fall (or Autumn as we call it) and you never see pumpkins other than at the local Fruit and Veg.

Love those felt sets you made!

    Georgia 🙂
