To practice making basic shapes I gave each of my students a piece of yarn. I would then tell call out a shape and they would try to make it on their own. For some of my students it was very challenging, for others they took off and couldn’t wait for me to tell them their next shape. Here is what they came up with:
Hearts:
Rectangles:
Ovals:
Triangles (this was the most difficult shape):
Circles:
My Pre-K class had a lot of fun doing this little enrichment activity. After we practiced making the shapes I let them make whatever they wanted to out of the yarn. The students were quiet creative and it was fun to see them choose to make things like: their first letter of their name, a shape that we didn’t try as a class, a princess crown, etc.
