Yesterday my daughter Little Red and I had so much fun making a Ten Apples Up On Top book inspired by Dr. Seuss’s book Ten Apples Up On Top!

We thought it would be fun to use all different kinds of craft materials to make the apples on each page. Thanks to my husband, Little Red, and I, we came up with some fun and creative ways to represent the apples.
Here is my cutie patootie hard at work! She was SO excited to get started. All of the illustrations in this book are originals and I too had fun drawing and creating this fun mini book.

Here is the cover that your child can color if they want to. The book is all in black and white which is a great way to not only save ink, but to let your child’s creativity come through with how they picture each character to look.

As we completed each page, we read the corresponding pages for Dr. Seuss’s Apples Up On Top! book. Oh, I should mention that this book was written under Dr.Seuss’s other pen name, Theo. LeSieg.
For the first page, Little Red whole punched an apple from red construction paper then added details with a black marker. 

 For the second page Little Red added 2 pom poms to make the apples (her dad’s idea).

 For the third page Little Red glued on three red buttons.

 For the fourth page, Little Red painted on four apples with red acrylic paint.

 Page 5 was made by using fuzzy apple stickers we had in our sticker stash.

For the sixth page Little red used a red stamp pad and made her finger prints into six apples. She then went back and added a few details to her apples with a marker.
Little Red used a circle stamp from my Stampin! Up stamp collection as well as a red ink pad to make her 7 apples on page 7. 

 Page 8 was created by using 8 apple stickers left over from when I taught 4th grade.

 On page 9 Little Red turned red dot stickers into 9 apples.

Page 10 is one of my favorites where Little Red drew her own 10 apples on top of the lion’s head. 

So, didn’t this book turn out cute? Little Red was also very excited to go back and read the book to myself and her Dad and sister when they got home from work and school. Before sharing this book with you I did decided to make the lion, tiger, and dog illustrations a little smaller on each page to leave more room for the apples.

I also made a second version of this book where the apples are already drawn for the kids and all they have to do is color in the apples (like the sample on the left) or the whole page (like the sample on the right). This book is so great for number recognition, one to one correspondence, and as you can see, can be created by using so many different resources.
